You are invited to a hospitable discussion about the many wonders of South Korean craft today.

Jeong (정) is the Korean form of hospitality. It evokes a deep connection felt between people through shared experiences. It is cultivated over time and is expressed, particularly in sharing food.

You are invited to the Knowledge House for Craft to join our guests from South Korea in a conversation about the meaning of craft.

The Knowledge House for Craft is a space for a dialogue between cultures about the meaning and practice of craft. This forum is a conversation about craft in South Korea. Participants are invited to give a short presentation about their work, including projects and organisations they represent. After the brief presentations, there will be a discussion about the unique qualities of Korean craft.

  • What are the main organisations involved in South Korean craft?
  • What are the unique characteristics of South Korean craft?
  • How can foreigners participate in South Korean events?
  • What Korean words such as jitda (짓다) can help us understand its craft?
  • How does craft figure in Hallyu, Korean wave, including K-pop and Squid Game?

Guests include Hyeyoung Cho (Chairperson, The Korea Association of Art and Design) and Yujin Moon (Editor, Craft Culture)
